While Barack Obama’s time in the White House is coming to an end, his legacy will remain forever. Yesterday, the Hollywood Reporter announced the news that a biopic of young Barack Obama in the works. Indie filmmaker Vikran Gandhi a Vice Media correpsondent, who is most remembered for his previous documentary Kumare is set to direct the project. The film will take us back to 1981, when Barack Obama was a college student at Columbia University in New York. Rising actor Devon Terrell will play young Obama, and actress Anya-Taylor Joy will play a college student Obama forged a relationship with while at Columbia. While their is no official release date, the biopic is set to begin filming this April. It is the second biopic released of Barack Obama this year, as an earlier film, Southside With You, tells the story of Barack and Michelle Obama’s earlier love life in Chicago. This film was released earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Stay tuned for more info on this project.
