This past Wednesday, PJ Morton hosted an intimate listening session for tastemakers, select fans and influencers in New Orleans. Bounce & Soul Vol 1. is Morton’s stab at combining the popular New Orleans bounce music with soul music. It would be the start of a new beginning, his first release under new imprint Morton Records. His label Morton Records teamed up with PJ’s Coffee who hosted the event at their warehouse in NOLA. Bounce & Soul Vol. 1 is hosted by the legendary DJ Raj Smoove, who is credited as “Greatest DJ in the world” by Lil Wayne.
The project recreates popular songs such as ‘Work It Out’ and ‘New Orleans Girl.’ It features New Orleans legends Juvenile and Mannie Fresh along with the likes of 5th Ward Webbie, Trombone Shorty, Mack Maine and Dee-1. The Conscious Tip was on hand to see the experience first-hand and to witness PJ’s Coffee commitment to supporting PJ’s pursuit of a Motown like imprint in his hometown. The project is currently available now online and at all PJ’s Coffee locations in New Orleans. Check out the photo recap and listen to the project below.
